I remember back in the day when I would frequent the MAC counter at the mall, always up on the latest colors and makeup trends. My mom and I would go up there together and have so much fun trying out the latest lip gloss or the newest eye palette. Well, that was pre-kids and while I would still consider myself a product junkie, I don’t have the time like I used to, and it just hasn’t been a priority for me for quite awhile. Ya know, most of us mom’s put ourselves last, so my makeup routine had pretty much stayed the same the last few years. When I would run out of something I would just jet up to Sephora as quick as I could and pick up the exact same thing. Needless to say, I was in a makeup rut. Bring in makeup artist, Jessica Scott to the rescue! I met Jessica when I did my first photo shoot with Kristin. While I always do my own makeup for shoots, my first time around I wanted it to look the best it could, so Kristin set me up with Jess- thank goodness! While my makeup for a shoot is heavier than what I would wear everyday, Jessica helped me pick out new colors, which I was in desperate need of, and also share some great tips such as highlighting. Since I’m not a professional makeup artist I basically took what she showed me and adopted it to fit my lifestyle/needs.
I gravitate to colors that I can wear with everything, basically everyday neutrals. Here are a few products that I picked up after my lesson:
I have to tell you, I’m obsessed with this MAC foundation. I’ve been wearing Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for the past few years and while I still really like it I wanted something that was a little longer lasting and this definitely did the trick. It gave me the coverage I was looking for but still looked natural and not too heavy. Other favorites included this eye palette and an everyday blush. What are some of your makeup essentials? Have a good Monday guys!
